More About Aquatic Weed Control Options
Excessive plant growth can be controlled with several tools. One tool may help, but combining several will get the job done.

Herbicide Application
Herbicide applications are the most effective tools available. Monthly inspections, with treatments as necessary, will help keep growth to an acceptable level. Some ponds may require multiple treatments during a month, which can be included in the yearly treatment schedule.
Florida Aquatic Management uses EPA approved herbicides, algaecides, beneficial bacteria and dyes that will not harm fish and wildlife. Product labels (MSDS sheets) can be provided for review at your request. Our applicators are licensed by the State of Florida, assuring you the highest level of service. We pride ourselves on taking the most environmentally friendly approach possible while meeting our customer’s needs.
Aeration
Aerator fountains are more appealing to the eye since aeration is achieved by throwing water up into the air and returning droplets into the water, causing a beautiful water display. Diffuser systems are not as eye catching because the aeration is achieved through bubbles created below the water’s surface, so you may see bubbles only on the surface directly above the unit.
We are proud to be a distributor of Aqua Master aeration systems, which offer the best products backed by the best warranty in the industry. You can view the catalog by going to our links page and clicking on the logo. We offer the full line of products including programmable lights, custom nozzles and spray patterns. Aqua Master products are a perfect example of the old adage: ”you get what you pay for.”
Beneficial Plants
Plants stabilize the soil, absorb nutrients and provide cover and food for fish and wildlife. You can use planting to improve the quality and appearance of your lake or pond.
State and county government agencies frequently require the use of aquatic plants for environmental reasons, often referred to as mitigation. A permit is typically required for mitigation planting. As a courtesy to our existing monthly maintenance customers, we will obtain the proper permit required.
We can provide a variety of beneficial species including pickerelweed, arrowhead, water lily and others. We would be glad to design a program to meet your needs.
Fish Stocking
Stocking fish such as Triploid Grass Carp is a slower approach to controlling weeds and plants (they can eat only so fast). Grass Carp effectively control weeds with tender succulent vegetation such as filamentous algae and duckweed. A permit is required to introduce these fish into a pond or lake. As a courtesy to our existing monthly maintenance customers, we will obtain the proper permit required. We are a licensed and registered fish dealer with the State of Florida.
